Student Eights Rowing Regatta

The second largest Slovene city Maribor features a Student Eights Rowing Regatta every year in June. This is a unique opportunity in Slovenia to see the competition of largest rowing boats in person. The race is held within the Lent Festival; in 2002 the Student Rowing Club organized the regatta for the first time. The course is about 500 meters long, the boats compete one on one in two groups. Both fastest boats of each group meet in the final. Student regattas have a long tradition in Maribor, the Lent Regatta is held since 1992. Besides excellent competition conditions, the viewers can watch the races from start to finish, because the course is set under the main Maribor bridge across the Drava river.
